About this property

Villa Kiva began as a private family beach villa and has been transformed into a 28-room boutique hotel on the white sands of Matemwe, on Zanzibar’s north-east coast. It is a relaxed, romantic spot that also suits divers, with the reefs of Mnemba Atoll close by.

Rooms are spread between the main villa and two-storey bungalows set in a lush garden, many with a distinctive circular shape. Choose from garden-view rooms, sea-view rooms opening straight towards the beach, romantic upper-floor rooms and suites, or family options with connecting rooms. All have air conditioning, ceiling fans, mini fridges and tea and coffee trays.

The kitchen blends Swahili and European flavours with an Italian touch, using fresh seafood from Matemwe’s fish market, served on the oceanfront veranda, in the garden or with your feet in the sand, with drinks from the Masai Bar. There are two swimming pools, a spa, a lounge and TV room, a boutique and a dive centre booking point, plus excursions and safaris.
