Paje by Night is a relaxed, characterful hotel in a large, leafy plot just 70 metres back from Paje beach on Zanzibar’s south-east coast – one of the island’s best spots for kitesurfing. It is built around an active, sociable holiday: yoga, kitesurfing, pizza nights, live music and island tours.
There are 19 simple, comfortable air-conditioned bungalows set in pairs around the garden, from standard and king rooms to quadruple and family bungalows and rustic two-storey jungle bungalows made of wood, coral and palm leaves. Breakfast is included in direct bookings, with vegan and gluten-free options.
Facilities include a pool with jacuzzi, a restaurant and bar, a Bali-style spa, a yoga studio and free Wi-Fi. The hotel’s own kite centre, Hakuna Matata Kite, sits on the beachfront, and every Monday in high season there is a Swahili buffet with live music.
