Dhow Inn is a laid-back boutique hotel on Paje beach on Zanzibar’s south-east coast, blending traditional dhow culture with clean, modern design. Bright white buildings and Swahili touches surround four peaceful garden pools, including a 25-metre pool lined with loungers.
Rooms range from 33 to 45 m², each with a private terrace, air conditioning, minibar, kettle and coffee machine; the Premium Pool rooms on the first floor add a small private plunge pool. Food is a highlight: the hotel runs what it calls the island’s best sushi restaurant, an à la carte restaurant and a buffet, plus a stylish bar and dinners on the sand.
On its private beach Dhow Inn offers kitesurfing lessons with top instructors and quality equipment. There is also a spa known for excellent massages, a gym, island tours and transfers, and the hotel follows a sustainability programme.
