About this property
Fumba Beach Lodge is a small, peaceful hideaway on one of Zanzibar’s most secluded beaches, on the Fumba peninsula in the south-west of the island. It lies within the Menai Bay Conservation Area, a large marine reserve famous for dolphins, and the peninsula has been recognised for its outstanding natural beauty.
There are just 26 free-standing cottages spread through the forest and gardens for privacy: deluxe bandas with garden or ocean views and private verandas, four luxury suites with decks, hammocks and roof terraces over the sea, and two romantic Baobab Suites built around a 900-year-old baobab tree with open-air bathrooms. All have fans, mosquito nets, mini-fridges, safes and tea and coffee facilities.
The kitchen uses produce from the peninsula’s fertile soils and seafood landed daily by neighbouring fishermen, served at the restaurant or the Dhow Bar. There is a seafront pool, water sports and nature activities, and guests can visit Fumba village, which the lodge supports through schools, small businesses and local employment.
