About this property
The Z Hotel opened in 2010 as one of Zanzibar’s first boutique hotels, bringing a contemporary, London-inspired look to Nungwi beach on the island’s northern tip. It is set in a tropical garden with steps straight down to the white sand, and has been named among the trendiest hotels in Africa.
The 40 rooms and suites combine travertine marble floors, Italian designer bathrooms, Egyptian cotton linen and four-poster beds made from local coconut wood. Every room has French doors onto a balcony, with views over the garden or across the ocean to the sunset; the rooftop suites, two oceanfront cottages and the 70 m² Z Suite add large private terraces. Children under 16 are not accepted.
The ocean-front infinity pool looks over the private beach area, and guests can eat at the Sexy Fish seafood restaurant on the deck, the Cinnamon café-bar, or watch the sun go down at Rooftops champagne and cocktail bar. There is also the Sky Spa and a Jungle Gym, and diving, snorkelling and trips to Mnemba Atoll can be arranged.
